Chelsea boss admits third bid won’t be made

Jose Mourinho has admitted Chelsea won’t be making a third bid for Everton’s defender John Stones.

The Blues have already seen two bids rejected by The Toffees for the 21-year-old centre-back, and Mourinho has now confirmed that there won’t be a third offer.

Chelsea offered £20million and then £25m for the defender, but on both occasions the bids were rejected by Roberto Martinez and co, who are desperate to keep hold of their star-asset.

Stones is expected to play a big part in Martinez‘s side next season, especially with Slyvain Distin leaving the club, and the Spaniard is desperate to keep the defender at the club.

Speaking about his interest in the Englishman, Mourinho was asked if there would be a third and improved bid, but the Portuguese confirmed there wouldn’t be.

No Third Bid

‘No’ and added: “I don’t speak about players from other clubs, especially now competition starts.

“It starts for us and Arsenal now [Community Shield] and next week starts for everyone. It’s enough for me.”

This could leave Manchester United in the clear to sign the England international as they have recently entered the race to sign him according to reports.
