Manchester United and Chelsea have neen dealt a blow in their respective pursuit of highly-rated Serbian, Marko Grujic, according to reports.

The 19-year-old, who has been labelled as the “next Nemanja Matic” currently plays for Red Star Belgrade, in the Serbian top-flight, and is keen on a move to one of Europe’s top leagues.

He has been valued at £4m by his current club, who have received interest, not just from Chelsea or United, but sides’ in Spain, Italy and Germany.

However, in a turn of events, Belgrade chairman, Zvedzan Terzic, said he has not intention of selling the starlet.

Terzic stated: Grujic is one of our best players,” he said.

“He can’t leave the club before August, or in any case not before the end of the season.

If we can’t guarantee support from the sponsors of the club, then there’s the possibility of signing a pre-contract with a club, but he’ll stay with us until the end of August, until the end of the European preliminaries.

“Grujic’s family has always behaved well with us, in fact four months ago we renewed until 2018, showing great understanding with the club.

A move to Chelsea would presumably see him immediately loaned out from the Premier League champions.
