Manchester United are planning a £35m bid for Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil according to reports.

Manchester United will back manager Jose Mourinho in the January transfer window with a £80m”transfer war chest”.

The Daily Mirror claim the Manchester United owners will back Mourinho this January with more signings.

Mourinho is keen to land Arsenal star Mesut Ozil and Tottenham’s Danny Rose to his squad this month.

Mesut Ozil is out of contract at the end of the season and could be signed on a free transfer but Mourinho wants him now with fears that other big teams could potentially sign him as well.

Mourinho rates Ozil’s playmaking abilities and is keen to add more creativity to his squad given the poor form of Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

The German playmaker is holding out for a contract worth £300,000 per week to prolong his stay at the Gunners but it’s not certain whether manager Arsene Wenger and the board will sanction such a high contract.

Manchester United will also be eager to land a left-back although Luke Shaw has recently come good with a number of good performances. Additionally, Shaw has been reassured by Mourinho that he will get more playing time as long as he keeps fit.

Tottenham want £50m for Danny Rose but United have not made an official bid for either player yet.
