Midfielder to snub move to Tottenham Hotspur

Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin is ready to snub a move to Tottenham Hotspur in order to complete a Summer move to Arsenal.

The Gunners have been long-term admirers of the Frenchman and were keen on signing him last Summer, but Ronald Koeman blocked any possible departure after seeing several stars leave beforehand.

Saints’ Summer Sale

Saints lost lost five key players from their squad last Summer, and reports were suggesting Schneiderlin and Jay Rodriguez could follow suit, but once Koeman arrived, he blocked all exits.

Schneiderlin was left frustrated and made it public knowledge that he wasn’t happy being forced to stay at the club. However, he remained at St Marys and had another standout campaign.

Despite staying last Summer, the Frenchman is now desperate for a move away and wants to play in the Champions League, making Arsenal the favourites.

Schneiderlin wants Champions League

Schneiderlin recently had an interview with French media and he all-but confirmed that he was ready to move away from Southampton, but would only move to a Champions League club.

That rules out Spurs, who were keen on a ÂŁ25million deal, and makes Arsenal clear favourites, who wanted to sign him last year.

The Gunners are in the market for a defensive midfielder and Schneiderlin fits the bill due to his age and Premier League knowledge.

Arsenal found a hidden gem in Francis Coquelin, who helped the side stabilise in the centre of the park, but Arsene Wenger is keen to add a partner alongside him.
