Gareth Southgate has sent a stern warning to Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

The Arsenal goalkeeper has lost his No.1 spot in the squad to summer loan signing David Raya from Brentford.

Ramsdale has fallen behind the pecking order and is yet to make a Premier League appearance since September’s 3-1 win over Manchester United.

There has been increasing uncertainty over the goalkeeper’s future as it’s unlikely that he would want to continue in a backup role.

Although he made it to the England squad for the upcoming games, Gareth Southgate said there would be no guarantees for Ramsdale going forward unless he improves his situation at Arsenal.

‘We’re just going to have to see how it is. I had that conversation with him in the last camp,’ said Southgate. ‘He’s still battling to be the No 1 at Arsenal, and his profile and the way he can use the ball with his feet, we like and think is important.

‘But there is a reality as a keeper, if we get to March and he’s six months without playing regularly, then I’m never going to promise things that I couldn’t guarantee delivering. So he knows that, he’s perfectly realistic about that.’
