Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has revealed that he does not plan on rushing into deals during the January transfer window, which is a vast difference from how they were last season.

Just 12 months ago, The Magpies were struggling in the Premier League and were near the foot of the table, so they decided to spend their way out of trouble, and eventually, it worked.

Signing the likes of; Mathieu Debuchy, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Yoan Gouffran, Massadio Haidara and Moussa Sissoko, showed intent by Pardew and co. last Winter, but The Toon boss is not planning on doing the same again this time around.

“I think we can be very calculated in this window. If you are in a good position, there is no need to rush anything,” said Pardew.

“In the corresponding window last year, we really needed to do some business and when you need to do business, I think it is a difficult window.

“When you don’t need to do business, which perhaps you can argue we don’t, then maybe you can look at it in a more calculated manner.”
