Striker commits to Lyon

Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette has signed a contract extension at the Ligue 1 club, according to reports in France.

A French football expert tweeted out yesterday that the striker will be staying put at the club, despite interest from Arsenal and Liverpool from the Premier League.

Matt Spiro tweeted: ‘Lacazette will sign new Lyon contract in coming days.’

According to reports yesterday, the 24-year-old was told he could leave the club if he wanted, but it’s now been confirmed that a new deal will be signed.

Lacazette scored 27 goals in Ligue 1 last season, and that sparked interest from the Premier League duo, but it now appears that the Frenchman will be staying put in his homeland.

Arsenal and Liverpool Interest

Arsenal are in the market for a new striker in order to take the workload off Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck, whilst Liverpool want another striker despite adding two to their team already.

Danny Ings and Christian Benteke have arrived over the summer, but Brendan Rodgers still wants one more.
