Lyon striker ‘agrees’ move to French rivals

According to reports in France, Alexandre Lacazette has snubbed a move to the Premier League by agreeing to join Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain in a deal worth ÂŁ22million.

The Lyon striker has attracted interest from Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United in recent months, and has been strongly linked with a move to England over the Summer, but those reports have been dismissed once and for all.

Premier League Blow

Despite earlier this year stating he would stay at Lyon for one more season, Lacazette‘s future has been uncertain and a move to the Premier League looked on the cards.

However, Lyon’s board quickly rubbished a move to Liverpool as they reportedly couldn’t afford him nor could they offer him Champions League football. Meaning it left Arsenal and Manchester United.

The two English clubs left were reportedly keen on making formal Summer moves, but their focus will have to turn elsewhere now after the latest reports coming out of France.

Lacazette to PSG Deal

It’s believed Lacazette has agreed a five-year deal with Laurent Blanc‘s men and will move once the transfer window is formally open. However, the deal will see the striker remain at Lyon on a season-long loan for the 2015/2016 season.

The 24-year-old netted a whopping 31 goals this season and will now link up with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani, although it is looking likely that at least one of those will be leaving this Summer.

Both Ibrahimovic and Cavani have been linked with moves to England.

Price and Loan Plan

So it’s believed PSG will pay Lyon ÂŁ22m for the striker, but will send him back to the club for a season-long loan before him officially turning a PSG player in 2016.
