Premier League quartet alerted with striker’s concerns

Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette is unhappy with how the Lyon president handled contract negotiations after he made comments in the media about the cost of the deal.

The French striker was linked with a move away from Lyon over the summer, with several Premier League clubs interested in signing him, including Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool.

However, the striker eventually penned a new deal at the club, signing a 12-month extension which will keep him at the Stade Gerland until 2019.

Despite being happy enough at the club to sign an extension, the 24-year-old isn’t happy with president Jean Michel Aulas revealing the details behind the contract.

Aulas admitted the contract was worth ÂŁ3.1million, making Lacazette the club’s highest ever paid player, something the striker didn’t want coming out to the public.

Lacazette Unhappy

‘It hurt. I think that is a justified word to use.

‘When you are a youngster at the club, in the town, and you have never really behaved in a nasty way to anyone, to be treated like that, yes, it hurts. I had had my best ever season, I really helped the team to reach the Champions League again,’ he said.

‘Yes, it is his (Aulas’) attitude. When he talks, a lot of fans listen. And when he retells things, seen from his point of view, it makes you think that the player is in the wrong. Yes his behaviour hurt and disappointed me.’

Lacazette managed to net 27 Ligue 1 goals last season which is why the Premier League clubs were interested in signing him.

However, Chelsea went with Radamel Falcao, Liverpool went with Christian Benteke and Manchester United went with Anthony Martial, while Arsenal didn’t sign anyone.
