Andy Robertson Explains Liverpool Team Spirit

Andy Robertson has underlined the spirit within the Liverpool squad by referring Daniel Sturridge’s brilliant impact in their 3-2 win over Paris Saint Germain in the Champions League.

Roberto Firmino’s absence gave Sturridge a much needed lifeline as the English international was handed his first start of the season by Jurgen Klopp. Sturridge didn’t disappoint as he opened Liverpool’s account in Europe with a sumptuous header.

The forward tried to influence the game with intelligent runs behind the defence and later Klopp praised his contribution after the game. Despite a number of injury concerns the former Chelsea striker has remained at Anfield and if he keeps himself fit he could be a valuable asset for the Reds.

Robertson said, “Behind the scenes and at training we’re all hungry to go for starting places.

“Some people won’t play as much as they want, especially when it has been Saturday to Saturday and the gaffer has kind of stuck with his team.

“But we have got a lot of games coming up so everyone will be required.

“Studge sums it up – he comes on, plays 70 minutes and does unbelievably against a top side and two very good centre-backs. Credit to him and I’m sure all the boys sitting on the bench can look at him and they’ll make similar impacts when called upon.”
