Angel Di Maria is set to miss PSG’s upcoming tie against Barcelona.
The Argentine injured his thigh muscle and won’t recover in time for the Champions League Round of 16 first-leg tie.
Paris Saint-Germain finished last season as the tournament finalists, losing to Bayern Munich 1-0. Thomas Tuchel was sacked from his post this season and now, Mauricio Pochettino has taken charge of the Parisians.
Coach Mauricio Pochettino said, “As the club said, there’ll be further communication within the week concerning Angel but his participation in the match against Barcelona is compromised. His absence isn’t a reason to change our ideas.
“We’ll find the best available solutions. His absence isn’t a reason to change our ideas. We’ll find the best possible solutions. Angel has played a lot and he’s an important player for us. But there are other players who can play and enable us to win matches.”
PSG will face CAEN and OGC Nice in the domestic cup and league before heading over to Camp Nou.
Pochettino added: “We’re not testing things in other competitions. We need to perform in all competitions. Against Caen, we’ll need to play the best we can in order to win.”
