According to reports from Marca, Barcelona move a step closer to the signing of Antoine Griezmann as his lawyer will meet the club authorities soon. Griezmann announced that he will leave Atletico Madrid at the end of this season a few days back. The Frenchman who signed a contract extension at Atletico not even a year ago, will leave the club this summer with 133 goals and 50 assists to his name.
Barcelona who were immensely linked to Griezmann, are the favorites to sign him and will be a step closer to roping in the Frenchman when they will meet his lawyer. Griezmann’s lawyer Sevan Karian will meet Barcelona in the forthcoming days.
This season, Barcelona have already won a La Liga and Supercopa de Espana double and it could be a treble provided they win the Copa del Rey final against Valencia next week. However, the one trophy Barcelona are hell bent on winning is the Champions League. Barcelona were heavy favorites to win it this season but Liverpool eliminated them in the semi-finals, something which came as a surprise to many given that Barca had a 3-0 lead in the first leg and Liverpool played the second leg without Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino.
The addition of Antoine Griezmann will surely bolster Barca’s squad. As a matter of fact, last summer Messi said that he and Griezmann would get along well.
