Boss believes Azpilicueta is ‘thriving’
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte believes Cesar Azpilucueta is ‘thriving’ in the new ‘perfect role’ he is playing in the team.
The Blues have switched to a Three at the Back system in the recent weeks and found great success, winning 5 straight Premier League games and conceding no goals.
John Terry recently returned from his injury before the international break, but even he is struggling to get into the side.
Azpilcueta has been praised by Conte for adapting to his ‘perfect’ role so well,
“Azpi is a fantastic player,” Conte said in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Blues’ trip to Middlesborough. “Because he can play different roles. But I think the role that he’s playing now is perfect for him.
“He’s playing very well, because he’s fast, he has good technique, good positioning. He’s a clever player. He can play in different roles, but this role I think is perfect for him.”
