Arsene Wenger has confirmed today that he wants to bring in THREE players at Arsenal in the January transfer window.

The Gunners are currently struggling in the Premier League and have suffered their worst start in the Wenger era. After two consecutive away draws, the fans have started to turn on Wenger and are starting to question the squad he has at his disposal.

However, whilst speaking to a French television station, the 63-year-old confirmed that there are funds available at Arsenal for him to strengthen his squad in the winter.

One of the players is an ex-Arsenal player and is the club legend, Thierry Henry. Both Arsenal and New York Red Bulls are in talks already about trying to seal another loan deal for the second season in a row. When Henry came back last year, he scored three goals in as many appearances, with two of his goals proving to be winners, and Arsenal boss, Wenger, is very keen on bringing him back for his third spell.

He said: ‘This winter we will work very hard because we have some funds available. It could happen that we buy two players, but I cannot reveal the names.

‘A loan [for Henry] is still a possibility, but we will still try to strengthen for the long term.

‘Henry is the talent that you dream to have. He has fantastic physique, fantastic technique, a fantastic brain, all built together in one man. At the start he was not confident enough but he has gone on to show what a great player he is.’

As for the other two players, Wenger is very keen on Schalke striker, Klaas Jan Huntelaar and Crystal Palace wonderkid, Wilfried Zaha.

Arsenal’s chief scout has been watching Zaha for the last couple of games and has given Wenger positive feedback about the England winger. It is believed Arsenal will offer at first £9m, but Palace are wanting something around £20m.

As for Huntelaar, he is very keen on leaving the German league and joining the Premier League with Arsenal favourites to sign him.

Former Holland striker Erik Meijer, a TV pundit whose agent Arnold Oosterveer now represents Huntelaar, believes his fellow Dutchman is bound for the Emirates in January.

‘According to the information I have, Huntelaar will be gone in the winter,’ said Meijer earlier this month. ‘Arsenal FC are the favourites to land him.’

Arsenal fans will be bouyed by the news of Wenger’s plans to strengthen the squad, but most fans will hope they are not just words to keep people happy.
