Arsenal activate Carlos Vela release clause

Arsenal have reportedly told Spanish side Real Sociedad that they will be activating Carlos Vela’s buy-back clause in his contract.

Despite leaving the Emirates Stadium on a permanent basis just last Summer, The Gunners are now keen on resigning the Mexican forward after an impressive season in La Liga and due to a clause put in his contract, the Premier League side can buy him for as little as £3.5million.

The 25-year-old netted 16 goals last season and set-up 12 for his team-mates, and the club’s president has confirmed that Arsenal have informed them of their decision to release their buy-back option.

Jokin Aperribay has been in London to hold talks with Arsenal officials, and he had this to say on the matter: ‘Arsenal have informed us that Vela would be with them next season.’

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is keen on signing new strikers to help take the load off Olivier Giroud, and it’s believed that Vela will not be the only forward arriving this Summer, with Loic Remy, Mario Mandzukic, Karim Benzema and Alvaro Morata all linked with moves to North London.
