Premier League giants; Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea, have all been dealt a transfer blow with the news that Sevilla midfielder Ivan Rakitic, has agreed to join FC Barcelona after the World Cup.
According to reports in Spain, Sevilla and Barca have agreed a fee of £16million for the Croatian midfielder, who was pivotal in the club’s Europa League success, and his consistent performances caught the eye of three Premier League managers.
Despite taking over at Old Trafford just this Summer, Louis Van Gaal told the club that Rakitic is one of his targets, and both Brendan Rodgers and Jose Mourinho have also been monitoring the 26-year-old’s situation.
However, Barcelona have moved ahead of the three English clubs by holding formal talks with the player and his agent, and they made a formal bid and saw it accepted with minimal fuss.
According to a radio station in Spain, Barca officials have been talking to representatives from Sevilla for the last few days, and the feeling is that a deal can be agreed quickly.
