Arsenal avoid Tiote temptation

Arsenal have reportedly turned down the chance to sign target Cheick Tiote from Newcastle United.

Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, had been keeping tabs of the defensive midfielder, as he wants to strenghten in that department with Premier League experience.

Tiote’s representatives were believed to have met with Arsenal in North London about a potential £12 million move for the Newcastle man.

However, Arsene Wenger has revealed he rejected the chance to sign the 28-year old, as the Gunners are holding out for a ‘top talent’. Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin has been consistently linked with Arsenal.

Tiote is currently on internation duty with Ivory Coast at the African Cup of Nations.
