Arsenal skipper Martin Odegaard eager to challenge Manchester City following surprise loss to Wolves

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard seems unfazed by Manchester City’s surprise defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday. Arsenal, who have yet to lose this season, are focused on their own performance ahead of their clash with City next Sunday. (8 Oct)

While Arsenal won 4-0 against Bournemouth, Manchester City lost 2-1 to Wolves at Molineux. The defending champions fell behind to an own goal by Ruben Dias, but managed to level the score with Julian Alvarez’s goal. However, Wolves clinched the match shortly after with a decisive strike by Hwang Hee-chan.

As of right now, City holds the top spot in the Premier League table, one point ahead of both Tottenham in second and Arsenal in third. A number of their important players, including Kevin De Bruyne and Rodri, won’t be available for the coming match at the Emirates due to injuries and suspensions.

Looking forward to the match, Odegaard understands the challenges but remains focused on their own performance. Arsenal’s journey continues on Tuesday with a Champions League encounter against Lens, but Odegaard and the team are ready to face City and keep their Premier League unbeaten record alive.

Martin Odegaard responded with a smile when asked when he learnt of City’s blunder against Wolves, stating, “I just heard.” But again, we have to focus on ourselves.

‘This league is so tough you say that everyone can beat everyone and you have to be sharp, ready for every game and it is such a busy schedule now.

‘So we have to focus on ourselves. Make sure we are ready for next week.’

He added: ‘I think every game is a big game.

‘First we are in the Champions League and we have to be ready for that one and then we’ll see after that but every game for us it’s a big game.’
