Arsenal deal for Khedira back on

Arsenal’s quest for Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira is back on the table, according to reports, as the Premier League side are preparing to bid £12million for the German international.

The Gunners believe they can sign Khedira on the cheap due to him entering the final year of his contract and after Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti, revealed that he has no plans to renew his deal, the Spanish side are desperate to sell this year.

It had been reported earlier in the window that Arsenal had agreed a £24m fee for the German, but the deal collapsed due to Khedira’s wage-demands, but after Mikel Arteta suffered an injury midweek in the Champions League, Arsene Wenger is now back in the market for a holding-midfielder.

William Carvalho’s name has also been mentioned, but it appears that Wenger is ready to push forward with a move for Khedira, hoping that a £12m offer would be enough for Madrid to accept.

Wage demands could still be a problem with the 27-year-old, but after being told he has no role at the club for the season ahead, the German international may want out of the Bernabeu.
