The Gunners could make a ÂŁ21million move for Julian Draxler, according to reports

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger could move for the 21-year-old before the transfer window closes, according to Italian newspaper Tuttosport.

Draxler is thought to be a long term target for Arsenal and is believed to be keen on making a move to the Premier League.

The Germany international could be allowed to leave Schalke for ÂŁ17.5million, despite the Bundesliga club wanting at least ÂŁ21million, according to Roger Wittmann, who represents Draxler.

“I think a deal could be concluded for €25m (£17.5m). His release clause (£31.5m) is no longer applicable after June 30.” Said Wittmann.

Draxler, has scored 17 goals in 116 games during his time in Germany, after progressing through the ranks, winning the DFB Cup and Super Cup during that time.

Arsenal did hold Benzema talks

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has been linked with a move to the Emirates all summer but has recently insisted there is no reason for him to leave the Bernabeu.

However, Arsenal reportedly held talks with Benzema’s agent, Karim Djaziri, regarding a potential move, according to journalist Pierre Menes who told French TV station Canal + about the discussions.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is believed to be a big admirer of the France international since his days at Lyon and is keen to improve his attacking options.

Madrid started the season with a 0-0 draw away to Sporting Gijón – Real manager Rafael Benítez will be looking for all three points when they entertain Real Betis tonight.
