‘We would’ve won the league with him’
Arsenal fans have been left cursing as long-term transfer target Gonzalo Higuain had a medical at Juventus today.
The Argentina international, who scored 36 league goals last season – a new Italian top flight record – has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium of late, with the Gunners on the lookout for a prolific centre-forward to help their quest to win the Premier League title.
The club’s need to strengthen in attack was highlighted further last night as Theo Walcott and Chuba Akpom both struggled to make an impact in the 1-1 pre-season friendly draw with Lens.
However, reports emerged today that the Old Lady are closing in on the signing of Higuain after they activated his €94m (£78.6m) release clause in his contract.
With a medical all that stands in the way of the 28-year-old and a move to Juve, there has been an strong reaction from Gunners supporters.
