Debuchy, who is France’s first choice right-back at the World Cup in Brazil, has been at Newcastle since January 2013, when he was signed from Lille. Arsenal have been searching for a replacement for Bacary Sagna since it was announced he would leave the club and join Manchester City.

The 28-year-old Debuchy has recently hinted that he would like to join Arsenal, admitting on Thursday that he wants to be playing Champions League football next season. An offer from the North London club could arrive in the coming days. Debuchy has scored one goal in 46 outings since moving to Tyneside.

Aurier was Arsene Wenger’s first choice to replace Sagna, and the Arsenal boss still retains hope of securing the Ivorian, who is currently playing for Toulouse. However, his attempts to sign the 21-year-old have been hampered by interest from other leading European clubs, including French champions Paris St. Germain and their Ligue 1 rivals Marseille.
