Arsenal missed out on their number-one January target after a bid for Daniele Rugani was rejected by Juventus.
The young centre-back was on top of Arsene Wenger’s radar after the under-21 international impressed a team of scouts from North London, but a formal £2.5million bid was turned down by the Serie A champions which left Wenger searching elsewhere.
Eventually Wenger splashed £11m on Villarreal defender, Gabriel Paulista, but according to reports in Italy, Rugani was the number-one target which they missed out on.
