Arsene Wenger confirms no contract offer will be offered yet

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that he won’t be offering Nacho Monreal a new contract just yet.

The Spaniard managed to force his way into Wenger‘s first-team, ahead of Kieran Gibbs, with some brilliant performances throughout last season, with a lot of fans claiming him to be the most improved player.

After a solid 2014/2015 season, Monreal was linked with a move back to La Liga, with Athletic Bilbao keen on signing him in a deal worth ÂŁ6million.

Monreal Happy at Arsenal

However, the full-back confirmed he was happy at Arsenal and didn’t want to leave the Emirates Stadium.

According to some reports in Spain, The Gunners rejected the offer because they were going to offer the left-back a contract extension, but that has been dismissed by Wenger, who won’t be entering contract talks with the defender just yet.

“I’m happy with his performances but at the moment we are not in negotiations for a new contract,” Wenger said.

Monreal’s deal expires at the end of next season.
