The Gunners are preparing a move for the midfielder in summer
Arsenal are keeping tabs on N’Golo Kante ahead of a bid for the midfielder this summer, according to reports.
Kante has shone for Leicester this year, as the Foxes upset the odds and managed to claim the Premier League title. He has become one of the club’s best players and is quickly establishing himself as arguably one of the best in the league.
It has led to interest from several sides, one of those teams being Arsenal.
The Gunners are on the lookout for fresh recruits in the midfield area this summer and with the 25-year old having the season of his life and proving himself massively in England, Arsene Wenger is ready to try and bring him to the Emirates.
Leicester will no doubt be extremely reluctant to let him go and boss Claudio Ranieri has already made moves to try and convince all his best players to stay on at the club rather than leave but they may have no choice.
Release clause in Kante’s contract
That is because according to reports, there is a £19.8m release clause in Kante’s contract and if it is triggered, talks will automatically have to begin.
Ranieri is trying to tie the midfielder up to a new contract at Leicester, with improved wages and a longer stay at the club, but if Arsenal match that release clause fee, then they could lose him.
It’s a fee that the Gunners will most definitely be willing to pay – after such an impressive season, it is a small price to pay for a player who has been outstandingly good in the centre of the pitch for the Foxes.
Unfortunately for Leicester, it means they could end up losing one of their star men.
