Arsenal Football Club have announced the signing of goalkeeper David Ospina from French side Nice.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper has signed a long-term contract after the two clubs agreed a deal for an undisclosed fee, and the Colombian will now join up with his new team-mates, and may feature at this weekend’s Emirates Cup.

The goalkeeper put in some impressive performances for his country during the World Cup in Brazil, and Arsene Wenger has admitted that he could take the number-one jersey from Wojciech Szczesny.

Arsenal were in desperate need for a ‘keeper after Lukasz Fabianski left the club for Swansea City, and Wenger is delighted to have landed Ospina on a long-term deal.

“David Ospina is an excellent goalkeeper, with good experience and a proven record of performing with Nice and Colombia. He will add strength to our squad and we are very pleased that he will be joining us.”
