Liverpool not big enough for Benzema

Liverpool boss Brenden Rodgers made an enquiry about French star Karim Benzema a fortnight ago but was rejected by the player himself rather than the club.

Real were prepared to listen to any offers put forward in excess of ÂŁ35million after spending ÂŁ65m on World Cup star James Rodriguez and a further ÂŁ24m on Bayern midfielder Toni Kroos.

The Reds were given information back from Benzema’s agents that they were not on his elite-list of clubs that he would want to join.

Liverpool have already secured the deals for Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Emre can and Lazar Markovic this summer and will look to add to their list as they prepare for another title push next season.

However this news will come as a blow to the Merseyside club as they look to find a world class striker to replace the departed Luis Suarez.
