Arsenal are set to make a January move for Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho.
The versatile defensive midfielder is a prime target, with Arsene Wenger keen to add to his squad.
The Gunners are somewhat weak in that defensive midfield position, with the Portuguese international set to be the subject of a tug of war for his services in January.
Carvalho, aged 22 has a £37 million buy-out clause, recently spoke about a desire to play in either England or Spain.
He said: “We all have ambitions and I hope one day to play in the best leagues in the world, the English or Spanish.
“It was not to be this summer, but if I continue to do my job as I have done so, it will certainly come sooner or later.”
