Gunners set up final against Everton on Saturday

Arsenal have started their pre-season with a 4-0 win over a Singapore Select XI, which sees them set up a final against Premier League rivals Everton on Saturday.

A hat-trick from Chuba Akpom helped Arsene Wenger‘s men progress through to the Asia Tour final, where they will be Roberto Martinez‘s men after they saw off Stoke City on penalties in the earlier semi-final.

Summary

The Gunners started a mixed team of youth and experience, with Mathieu Debuchy, Per Mertesacker, Gabriel Paulista, Nacho Monreal, Mathieu Flamini, Francis Coquelin, Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all starting the game.

However it was youngster Akpom who got the goals rolling after the ball fell kindly to him in the box which allowed him to slot home past the ‘keeper.

It took until the second-half for Arsenal to double their lead, and it came when Debuchy was brought down in the box with Wilshere converting the penalty.

The third also came from the spot after Jon Toral was brought down by the goalkeeper, and this time, Akpom stepped up and made no mistake.

The fourth and final goal once again came from the striker following superb work from Hector Bellerin down the wing. The Spaniard dummied his way into the box before putting the ball on Akpom’s head to convert.
