Arsenal are set to test Everton’s resolve by making a bid for midfielder James McCarthy.
The Republic of Ireland international joined the Toffees in a £13 million transfer fee from Wigan Athletic in the summer of 2013, and has impressed in the heart of their midfield.
However, due to his fine form in an Everton shirt, it appears that Arsene Wenger is weighing up whether to make a move for the 24-year-old player.
Wenger is keen to add a defensive midfielder to his side, and views McCarthy as the type of player that Arsenal currently lack.
