Arsenal ready to snatch Mings

Arsenal are ready to capture wanted Ipswich defender Tyrone Mings in Janauary for around £8 million pounds.

The Gunners are keen on adding to their defence once the transfer window re-opens, with the club desperate to add cover for Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker.

It is understood that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger remains firmly interested in Borussia Dortmund centre-back Mats Hummels, but has admitted that it is very unlikely that the club will sign him.

This has now brought Wenger to Mings, who started his career at Southampton and is regarded as one of the hottest young defensive prospects outside the Premier League.

With the player able to play both centre-back and left-back, Mings could well be the type of player that Wenger needs as ‘back-up’, and with a sizable £8 million pound price tag being placed on the youngster, it appears that Arsenal are ready to do buisness.

It is known that Arsenal would not be the only club ready to persue the defender, with Newcastle also offering the player a step up to the Premier League.
