Following two breakthrough years in the Portuguese league with Porto in which he has scored 46 goals in 60 league matches, Jackson Matinez is now one of the most sought after strikers in European football with the likes of Arsenal, Valencia, Roma and Atletico Madrid all believed to be interested in siging the player.
But they have been dealt a blow in their attempts to sign the Colombian international after the players’ representative, Luis Henrique Pompeu, met with Porto officials last week to discuss the possibility of a new contract for Martinez.
He told O Jogo: “Porto still wish to negotiate the renewal of Jackson.”
Porto paid £7.7million for Martinez 2 years ago but he is now valued at over £30million following two successful years with Porto.
