25-year-old German international, Mats Hummels, could well be on his way to Arsenal.
Talks are at an ‘advanced stage’ to bring the World Cup winner across from Germany, where the talented defender stars for Borussia Dortmund.
Arsenal have problems at the back, that has been well documented, and Arsene Wenger has made no secret of his intention to buy big in order to solve the problem.
Dortmund have given the impression that they are not going to stand in the way of a move, and with the success story from the Bayern Munich youth academy with the world at his feet, £31.5million could just be the offer that suits all parties.
Arsenal will have to fend off interest from Manchester United, but the Emirates currently looks the likely destination for Hummels.
The Gunners fans will be delighted to hear that it’s also much cheaper for Hummels to come to Arsenal. A one way ticket from Dortmund to Heathrow is currently £52, as opposed to £579 (via Munich) to Manchester. The deal is in the bag.
