Arsenal must shift their attention on a new striker rather than a midfielder.
The Gunners are expected to make a move for Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz in the January transfer window.
They have identified the Brazilian midfielder as a perfect replacement for Thomas Partey who is expected to leave this winter.
Arsenal has already been linked with a host of new strikers in the winter window but signing a new midfielder is also on their wishlist.
Luiz is being dubbed as the perfect midfielder in Mikel Arteta’s system and will be a marquee signing for the Gunners.
Paul Robinson claims Arsenal should instead focus on signing a new striker rather than a midfielder.
“I think he will be a very tough one to get out of Aston Villa,” Robinson told Football Insider.
“He’ll be a brilliant signing and make an excellent addition to the Arsenal squad.
“But for me, if they are to go for one area this January it’s a striker. I’ve been really impressed with their recruitment over the summer,” he added.
“We forget that Thomas Partey is yet to come back too, so we don’t know yet if Luiz would get in ahead of him.”
