However, Suarez stayed at Liverpool and has gone on to notch 23 Premier League goals and sign a new deal.
Wenger admits any move for the Uruguayan international will not be revived and claims he does not regret missing out on his services.
“No, because you have sometimes regrets when a player played for you, and scores goals or does well somewhere else,” Wenger said.
“He was never our player. It is just a situation that did not come off and that is it.”
“For us the important thing is to win the game. After, the fact that what happened in the summer is nothing to do with that.
“If you want to win the game what is for sure is that he is one of the players that you have to keep quiet.”
Asked if he would be look to sign Suarez agains this summer, Wenger replied: “At the moment, no.”
