Arsene Wenger angry with Premier League over loan rules

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has hit out at the Premier League due to their rules regarding loan players and the fact that Everton striker Romelu Lukaku will not be able to face Chelsea when the two teams meet.

The Gunners manager believes players should be able to play against their parent clubs throughout the season, otherwise it gives other teams an unfair advantage, as Lukaku will be a big threat to title-racing teams, yet he won’t be able to play against Chelsea.

The Arsenal manager said: ‘Once you are on loan, it should be a transfer – you play for the club. You cannot play for the club only in 19 games and not against another club.

‘If you ask me my opinion, I’m not against loans. But you should be capable to play against everybody.’

‘When I arrived you could decide when you loan the player, can he play against you or not?’ he said.

‘We had the case with Jermaine Pennant as well when he went to Leeds. I allowed him to play against us because at that time you could decide.

‘Now, they have decided that you don’t have the right, which is a little bit questioning the integrity of the players.’
