Arsenal boss believes it’s a big investment by Manchester United
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has defended his decision not to spend on Transfer Deadline Day by using Manchester United’s deal for Anthony Martial as an example.
The Gunners didn’t make any signings yesterday and only spent £10million throughout the summer on Petr Cech, but Wenger believes no-one was available who would strengthen his squad.
When talking about the lack of activity at the Emirates Stadium, Wenger used Martial as an example, who at 19-years-old, cost United £59million.
Wenger stated that the money is big despite the talent not being there.

“So am I happy with the investment I make? Yes, every time. I bought Sanchez, I bought Ozil, I bought Cech, I bought Gabriel last year.”
Lack of Activity
“Martial is a huge talent – he’s 19 years old. The investment is absolutely huge as well. It shows you that there’s not many players in the world who can strengthen these teams.”
