Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has confirmed that Hector Bellerin will sign a new four-year deal at the club.

The right-back has broken into the first-team due to the injuries sustained to Mathieu Debuchy throughout the season, and with Carl Jenkinson out on loan and Calum Chambers ‘hitting the wall’, Bellerin has stepped in and impressed.

After putting in a string of fine performances, Bellerin has now been offered a new long-term deal at the Emirates, and in today’s press conference, Wenger admitted that the deal is close to being wrapped up.

When asked about Bellerin’s new deal and whether it was close, Wenger was also asked about Jenkinson’s future at the club, and he confimed that at the minute the new contract to the Spaniard doesn’t have any effect on the West Ham loanee.

Wenger replied: “To the first part of the question (Bellerin contract) I’ll answer yes.

“And will it impact Carl Jenkinson? At the moment, in my head, no.”
