Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has today claimed that reports linking the club with a move for AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli, is ‘pure invention’.
The club have been heavily linked with the controversial Italian striker, and with both the North London club and the 23-year-old sponsored by PUMA, it was believed that a deal could be in place, with the sponsors helping fund the transfer.
It was reported yesterday that PUMA were desperate to land Balotelli before the 10th July, so that they could use him in their kit launch for Arsenal fans, but according to Wenger, all these reports are just invention.
It had been suggested that a £27million deal was close to being secured, but when questioned about Balotelli, Wenger responded by saying ‘it is pure invention’.
Arsenal fans will know that Wenger has a past of denying transfers before officially announcing them, so this could be another one of his mind-games, but as it stands, according to Wenger, Balotelli to Arsenal is not happening.
