Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has given midfielder Mesut Ozil an extended break in order to re-charge his batteries ahead of the season run-in.

The German international has been suffering in recent weeks and put in two displays against Liverpool and Bayern Munich, which received wide-spread criticism for his lack of passion and fight in both matches.

The former-Madrid star lost the ball before two of Liverpool’s goals in their 5-1 mauling at Anfield, and then he missed a crucial penalty against Munich in the Champions League last week.

Wenger decided to drop him from the entire squad for the Premier League clash against Sunderland, and a 4-1 victory has now put Wenger in a tricky situation regarding when he brings Ozil back into the team.

However, according to reports, the manager is ready to give Ozil an extended break so that he can recover and re-charge.
