Chelsea defender Ashley Cole fell out with manager Jose Mourinho due to his smoking habit.

The Portuguese boss doesn’t like any of his players smoking throughout the season, but the left-back was caught with a cigarette in his mouth on numerous ocassions throughout the campaign leaving his first-team spot in jeopary.

Throughout the season Cole was dropped to the bench as Mourinho preferred to play Cesar Azpilicueta, despite him being a right-back, and with the season now over, it’s expected that Cole will end his eight-year stay at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues left-back is about to become a free agent once his contract expires, and a whole host of clubs are already interested in signing him, but his rift with Mourinho looks to be the main reason behind his departure from The Bridge.

It’s believed Mourinho tried to convince Cole to stop smoking numerous times, but failed in each attempt which then eventually lead to him being dropped.
