Aston Villa picked up an impressive three points yesterday after they saw off mega-rich Man City at Villa Park and after the game, players and Manuel Pellegrini faced the media.

Here is what they had to say:

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini: “We played very well and deserved to win, but in five minutes (when Villa scored twice to go 3-2 up) we threw away everything good we did in the rest of the match. The way we lost this game was incredible. We led twice, and we had control of the game.”

Are you cross with way side defended: “Of course, but I must be patient. It is important to keep calm. In general I was very happy with the way my team played today and we deserved a different score.”

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany:

“If we played that game 10 times, we would win nine of them,” Kompany said. “It was a very unlucky result and a very unlucky day. Villa had three chances and scored three goals and that was it. The first goal was offside and we did not get the decision – but every time we made a mistake, we conceded.”

Aston Villa defender Ron Vlaar: “It is an unbelievable feeling. It was a great game, to come back two times from a goal behind with the spirit and energy we had, and with the fans behind us, was great and important as well. We just kept going.

“Man City are a strong team, we knew what they did (against Manchester United) last week. But even without Christian Benteke, who everybody knows is a very important player for us, we can still beat them – it is a big boost.”
