Athletic Bilbao have parted company with manager Eduardo Berizzo after a string of disappointing results.
The Spanish club have managed just one win so far and after 14 matches the Basque club is struggling in the relegation zone. Berizzo will leave the club with immediate effect and reserve-team coach Gaizka Garitano will oversee the first team for the time being.
Berizzo managed to avert defeat against Barcelona and Real Madrid but their last win came back in the first game of this season against Leganes. Berizzo was relieved of his duties at Sevilla in December and took over the charge at Bilbao in May.
Bilbao confirmed the development on their official site: “Athletic Club has decided to terminate the contract that united its coach Eduardo Berizzo with the entity.
