Atletico Madrid secures major transfer: Arthur Vermeeren set to join in €27m deal

In the latest 2024 January transfer window Atletico Madrid pulled off a major transfer coup, agreeing to terms with Royal Antwerp for signing Arthur Vermeeren.

The Belgian midfielder, considered a rising star in football circles, will cost €27 million, a fee mutually agreed upon by both teams, according to trustworthy Belgian media outlet HLN and transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

The imminent arrival of Vermeeren marks another significant move by Atletico Madrid in the ongoing transfer window. The club has been making waves with acquisitions, including the impending arrival of Moise Kean from Juventus and the permanent addition of goalkeeper Horatiu Moldovan from Rapid Bucharest.

Vermeeren, set to jet off to Madrid in the next couple of days, is expected to finalize the deal that would see him don the iconic red and white stripes of Atletico.

The talented midfielder has been extended a tempting long-term contract, and pending his acceptance, will undergo rigorous medical tests to complete the formalities.

This development brings immense joy to Atletico Madrid supporters and, notably, to the club’s head coach, Diego Simeone, who has expressed a persistent desire to bolster the team’s midfield.

Barring any unforeseen last-minute hitches, Vermeeren is anticipated to touch down in Madrid either by the week’s end or the commencement of the upcoming week, injecting fresh dynamism into the squad and fueling the aspirations of the reigning La Liga champions.
