Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has said that star striker Antoine Griezmann can leave the club if he wants to.
Manager Diego Simeone has said that Antoine Griezmann, one of the world’s bets players. is free to leave to the club if he so wishes to. Griezmann has been heavily linked for a move to Manchester United, and was close to signing for the Red Devils before Atletico got their transfer ban. Afterwards, Griezmann felt he couldn’t leave the club if they couldn’t replace him. But now, Atletico Madrid’s transfer ban will be lifted in January, which means Griezmann could be open to a move away from his beloved club.
Simeone told L’Equipe that Griezmann is free to leave the club if he wishes to.
‘If a player comes to me and says: “Coach, I have a once in a lifetime chance to play for a certain team, I want to leave”. If he did all he could for me as Griezmann does, I’ll say it’s no problem,’ Simeone said.
Simeone elaborated: “I know that he needs to grow. Of course Griezmann will be able to leave at some point, the same way [Diego] Costa and Arda Turan were allowed to leave.”
Griezmann has scored five goals in 12 appearances in the La Liga this season and is widely regarded as one of the world’s best footballers.
Top clubs such as Manchester United, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and PSG have all been linked but United are seen as favourites and it’s reported that Griezmann prefers a move to United over other teams.
