Atletico Madrid eyeing Diego Costa replacement

Spanish champions Atletico Madrid are desperate to find a Diego Costa replacement before the striker leaves to join Premier League side Chelsea this Summer.

The news broke earlier this month that the Spaniard was set to join Jose Mourinho’s side, and a formal announcement is expected in the next week or so, despite the striker confirming on his instagram page that he’s leaving the club.

The 25-year-old, who is fighting fitness ahead of the World Cup in Brazil, posted a picture of himself and captioned it with a message thanking the Madrid fans and admitting that he’s excited for his new chapter in England.

With The Blues prepared to pay over ÂŁ30million for the powerhouse, Diego Simeone now has the task of finding a suitable replacement, and his attentions are on the Premier League with two players in mind.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Roberto Soldado, who hasn’t been a success in England since his arrival last Summer, and Manchester City’s Alvaro Negredo, who started the season on fire, but ended it without scoring since the New Year.

If Simeone fails in his pursuit for Negredo and Soldado, he also has a backup list which contains; Romelu Lukaku, Fernando Torres, Jackson Martinez and Carlos Bacca.
