Atletico Madrid fans are angry about Thibaut Courtois move to Real Madrid

Atletico Madrid fans have reminded Real Madrid’s latest signing Thibaut Courtois of the time when he hurled insults towards the Real Madrid fans. Atletico Madrid was the club where the Belgian rose to prominence. Courtois played 154 matches for Atletico.

When Atletico Madrid won the Copa del Rey in 2013, Courtois was heard yelling insults towards Real Madrid supporters, telling them to ‘f*** themselves up the ***’.

Atletico Madrid fans have slammed Courtois following his move to Real and have taken to social media to express their anger. One fan posted a picture of Courtois posing next to his plaque at Atletico’s home ground Wanda Metropolitano in a Chelsea kit. The caption read, “Thibaut Courtois’ plaque outside the Wanda Metropolitano won’t be looking this clean for long..”

Atletico Madrid fans are already plotting to give Courtois a bizarre reception when he comes to Atletico’s home ground. As a matter of fact, there is a fan movement going on in twitter which is encouraging Atletico supporters to buy toy rats from Ikea at €1 to throw at Courtois when Real play Atletico.

Real Madrid take on Atletico Madrid on Thursday at the UEFA Super Cup.
