Spanish side in for Reds striker
Atletico Madrid are targeting a move for Liverpool striker Divock Origi.
Bleacher Report claim that Origi is seen as a backup plan by the Spanish side if they fail to re-sign Chelsea striker Diego Costa, who left the Vincente Calderon for Stamford Bridge 2 years ago.
It is claimed Diego Simeone believes Origi can be shaped to fit Atleti’s all-action style of play.
However, Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of the front man and it would take a huge offer to tempt the Reds to sell the Belgian.
After a difficult start to his Liverpool career, Origi seem to flourish under the influence of Klopp and scored a few important goals for the Reds in the second half of the season, most notably in both legs of Liverpool’s famous Europa League tie with Borussia Dortmund.
He suffered a setback however, when a horror tackle from Everton’s Ramiro Funes Mori in the Merseyside derby saw Origi needing to be taken off on a stretcher, and missing the rest of the season. He was fit in the end to go to Euro 2016, where his nation, Belgium, made the quarter finals.
