Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic has assured he will be staying at Barcelona. There were reports of Paris Saint Germain coming hot for the midfielder but the midfielder insisted he is very happy at the Nou Camp.
Barcelona picked themselves up from where they left off last season. Rakitic started the first match as the Catalans routed Alaves 3-0 and he subsequently played a pivotal role in the next game as the Spanish giants got the better of Real Valladolid.
Rakitic is touted to be a crucial part of Ernesto Valverde’s plans for this season and the manager would be quite happy following Rakitic’s confirmation. However, the Croatian midfielder admitted he had thoughts over leaving his current club but his family helped him in taking the decision.
“I have had a few days to reflect a little, talk over different things, I have had four fantastic years here and I would like to stay here a long time.
“To be part of the best club in the world is as good as it gets. I speak with my wife and my representative Arturo, and there is no place where I would be better off.
“There were several clubs that enquired about me. We spoke about everything and now the decision is final. The most important thing is that I want to be here, I feel privileged to be in the best club in the world.”
