Bayern Munich prepare to sell £32million midfielder, Chelsea interested
Bayern Munich are preparing to offload midfielder Arturo Vidal next summer according to reports in the German press today.
The Chilean international is out of contract in the summer of 2019, meaning that if he doesn’t renew his contract Bayern will have to sell soon if they want to get a good price for him.
Kicker say that the Germans are not satisfied with Vidal’s level of performance at the moment, and are looking to bring in Leon Goretzka on a free transfer from Schalke to replace him.
The 30 year-old would cost around £32million, which in the current market is not a bad price for a midfielder of his experience and talent.
Vidal originally established himself at Juventus when Antonio Conte was manager, and reports suggest that the Italian could look to try and tempt the Bayern man to Chelsea next summer.
His tenacious and physical style would suit the Premier League perfectly, and he would provide a versatile option for the Blues’ 3-5-2 formation given that he can play in defence as well.
Whether a move materialises remains to be seen, especially with Conte’s uncertain future at Stamford Bridge. However, the Chilean has been a long term target for the Premier League champions.
Chelsea will also look to move in the upcoming January transfer window. Find out Chelsea’s Top Targets for the January Transfer Window here.
